Here's an umbrella cockatoo for a book cover contest, with any luck I'll be a finalist :la:
Again, I drew feathers...Why do I keep drawing feathered things?! It takes so looooong...sigh

This took about 5-6 hours
Various pencil densities (HB - 8B and #2 automatic)
Drawn on Bristol Board

Wonderful job on the feather details! I think the eye could have a couple of highlights--as it is it looks a little lifeless. You could also put a deeper shadow adjacent to the claws to make them look more grounded.

What kind of book is this for?

Thanks very much! I think the camera also made it look alittle lifeless...it's a bit better on the actual paper.
It's for a instructional drawing book cover called "drawing on the right side of the brain"
